Community service in baseball goes far beyond the field, it’s about showing up for others and helping create a positive, supportive environment for everyone involved in the game. For me, that has meant working with youth athletes to help them build confidence, develop their skills, and feel encouraged no matter their level of experience. Whether it’s offering guidance during games, reinforcing good sportsmanship, or simply taking the time to support players.
Being involved at James Combs Field, and Beaumont Middle School Field has also given me the opportunity to contribute in other meaningful ways, and in the past that was by volunteering at the snack shack for Wilshire Riverside Little League. While it may seem like a small role, it plays a big part in bringing the community together—supporting teams, creating a welcoming atmosphere for families, and helping fund league activities. It’s another way of giving back and staying connected to the people who make the game special.
Through both mentoring young players, helping behind the scenes or through umpiring, community service in baseball is about building relationships, strengthening the local programs, and making sure every player feels valued and supported.
